2008 AFBNA AGM

What A Great Event!!!

This year’s AGM was held in Canmore, Alberta on Thursday & Friday, April 24 & 25, 2008. Eighteen Food Banks and over fifty people were in attendance.

From the Meet & Greet, including a tour of the Bow Valley Food Bank, on Thursday evening to the AGM and closing program by Tom Jackson on Friday to the Banff Food Bank tour on Saturday a fun and useful time was had by all.

Thanks to the staff and volunteers of the Bow Valley Food Bank and the Banff Food Bank for all their hard work.

Meet & Greet

On Thursday evening the Bow Valley Food Bank and Banff Food Bank combined in the hosting of a
Meet & Greet at the Canmore Town Offices for those travelling to Canmore for the AGM. Also provided were tours of the Bow Valley Food Bank which was just down the street.

Registration

Friday morning, after much hard work by the volunteers, registrants are greeted by AFBNA staff as they gather and prepare for the business of the annual meeting.

Meeting

The Executive members take their positions as the Annual General Meeting will soon be called to order.

Working Lunch

After getting some excellent home-made soup and building some tasty sandwiches AGM participants joined one of four groups dealing with Best Practices. They were Volunteerism, Food Distribution, Operational and Relationships. Following the group work summaries were shared with all those present.

Resource Seminar

AGM delegates received an excellent presentation on Event, Food & Fund Raising. All in attendance found it to be both informative and easy to understand.

Attendees

Now is was time for a wee break in the action and all the smiling faces moved outside to take part in an informal group portrait.

Closing

To close out the AGM all were treated to an inspirational and entertaining visit by Tom Jackson in a setting that was intimate and fun. Tom, and his wife Alison, are well known and loved by food bankers across the country for their ongoing support.
